Worked on the waiting room project the whole day. I really like how we get our own room and workspaces, it really helps with working and getting to know everyone. But the time I was looking forward to has finally come- the Swedish dinner! The Swedish students brought traditional Swedish dishes while the international students brought drinks. I brought Baileys but we never really got to it since there were so many other drinks. Anyway, the food was amazing - my favourites were the meatballs and the eggs halves. I took a nibble at the pickled herring and licorice…they aren’t my favourites hah. The herring had a slimy texture, and the licorice was sweet, salty, and bitter at the same time. The Swedes love them though. It was thoughtful of them to organize this dinner. My stomach hurt a bit from eating too much but I really enjoyed the night.

Home-made Swedish meat balls for lunch! They’re really quite easy to make:

First, tear some bread and soak it in milk

Saute onions and then mix with minced meat, along with the bread

Flour your hands and shape the mixture in to balls

Saute the meat balls in the frying pan until they are brown

Bake them a bit if you like

Ja ha! Det är din köttbullar :)

Later at night, Jade and Jenny invited me to make desserts for the Swedish Dinner tomorrow at school. After making Chokoladbullar (Coconut covered chocolate balls) and Kladkaka (Sticky chocolate cake), we watched TV, had chai tea, and of course, taste tested our creations. Sorry! I forgot to take pictures of the final products.
